I'm Michelle - a Registered Endorsed Midwife with extensive experience in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care. As both a clinician and a mother, I provide evidence-based, bespoke support to families as they navigate the huge emotional, and exhausting transition in their early weeks of life together.

I am proud to be a practise midwife in the rooms of Dr Scott Shemer, where I am fortunate to work with a fabulous team. I have been a nurse and clinical midwife specialist (CMS) for over 14 years working in a range of roles including Birth Suite, Postnatal & Team Leader for the Frances Perry House childbirth education department.  Over this time, I have helped hundreds of women through one of their most significant life events, and believe (and hope) that I have empowered them to have a positive experience. â€‹â€‹

What is clear to me is that this emotional and learning journey does not conclude when you leave the hospital- it’s only just beginning.

The early postpartum phase - often referred to as the Fourth Trimester - is a critical period of physical recovery, hormonal transition, and infant feeding establishment. It is also when significant emotional adjustment occurs as parents adapt to their evolving roles. This is the phase where continuity of postnatal care truly matters- I can help you you navigate this transition.

With each visit, I bring comprehensive clinical assessment, current evidence-based practice, and respect for your individual instincts and preferences. Together, we address the key components of postnatal wellbeing - supporting you physically & emotionally stabilising feeding and infant care, and strengthening the connection with your baby, your partner, and yourself.

Let’s connect and walk this journey together.

Michelle has thoughtfully hand-chosen a selection of their responses, hoping these voices bring comfort, confidence, and a gentle reminder that you’re never alone in this journey.

Change happens every day. Some days will be hard, but push through. The tough moments will pass, and brighter, happier days are on their way - keep going.

Try not to compare yourself to other women, or your baby to other babies. You are both unique. Embrace your own journey and celebrate your individuality.

THE INVISIBLE STAGE

Why the Fourth Trimester
Is Overlooked

For nine months, pregnancy is filled with appointments, scans, classes, and constant check-ins. Everyone wants to know how the baby is growing, how you’re feeling, whether you’re getting any sleep, and what kind of birth you’re hoping for. Then, almost suddenly, everything changes. Once your baby arrives, many assume the hardest part is behind you - but for countless families, that’s when the true intensity of this new chapter begins.
